| González H. Mayte |
Was born in the City of Havana in 1971. She graduated from “Paulita Concepción” Vocational Art School in 1985 and from “San Alejandro” National academic of Fine Art in 1992, graduate with degree specializing in Graphic Art. Since then she has exhibited her work in countries such as Mexico and Spain, as well as Italy and the United States. Much of her work is autobiographical, reflecting on her life, interaction with others and memories of where she came from. Her choice of materials is symbolic, and reflects her interest in philosophy and mysticism. Her prints combine both formal and organic elements in intimate collage compositions. Although she employs traditional printing techniques she is not interested in exercising complete control over the process. Mayte enjoys and takes advantage of the experimental aspect of it; she appreciates the unpredictable nature of the medium and the sometimes unexpected effects on her ideas and concepts.
