Kite-Fliers: Throwing roses to the sea, the tide returns laughter and sorrow. After rambling in infinity, oceans against the wind, we are here with drums from the Cerro, giving rhythm to our hands. Paulita Concepción a school that offered to its adventurers a pallet of colors, clay and dreams whose teachers above all let us fly, swim or be born. It was our genesis; our inner child allows us to still believe despite the years that have passed that creation is one of the elementary substances in the world; a way that competes with the nature that support s us. Flying a kite in Europe or America doesn’t make us different, because we use the same wind, probing that inexorable time that passed since we last saw each other but that it doesn’t erase our memories or essence of that time in our lives, a period where we discovered the art of creating, hoping that someone sees what we see and loves what we love.Friends, this is a happy reunion that would go as far as our fingers and imagination allow, let’s give it string! Let our kites fly.
Los papaloteros: El objetivo de esta muestra expositiva es el de presentar el encuentro de estos artistas, a través de un diálogo entre sus obras. Los artistas que en ella participan fueron estudiantes y maestros en el decenio de los 80 en la escuela vocacional de arte Paulita Concepción, ubicada en la Habana, Cuba. En el año 2009, algunos de los ex-estudiantes tuvieron la idea de propiciar esta reunión entre antiguos compañeros de clase y maestros. Gracias a la persistencia, el azar y la tecnología, un año después se había logrado contactar a 16 personas. Lo que en un inicio fue solo un encuentro definido por la nostalgia, comenzó a convertirse progresivamente en un proyecto que devendría en la presente exposición. Cada artista ha escogido presentar los trabajos que resumen sus últimas incursiones creativas. La exposición está integrada por obras que abordan diferentes temáticas, se adscriben a diferentes tradiciones conceptuales y están realizadas en diferentes técnicas. La unidad de la muestra se establece en el contrapunteo entre obras que expresan diversos trayectos de vida y diversas sensibilidades artísticas. En otras palabras, la exposición es en una suerte de mosaico donde confluyen lo singular y lo diverso, lo cuál facilita el deleite de todo tipo de audiencias.
